Not every tyre problem means you need a full replacement. Our expert mobile tyre fitters explain when a repair is safe — and when you need a new tyre.
One of the most common questions our mobile tyre fitting team gets asked is: can my tyre be repaired, or do I need a new one? The answer depends on several factors. A puncture repair is typically safe when: the damage is a clean hole in the centre of the tread (not the sidewall), the hole is no larger than 6mm in diameter, and the tyre is otherwise in good condition. If the damage is in the sidewall, if the tyre has run flat (driving on it while deflated), or if there are multiple punctures, a full emergency tyre replacement is the only safe option. Our mobile tyre fitters are trained to assess the damage quickly and advise you honestly.
We never recommend an unnecessary replacement just to increase the bill — if a repair is safe, we'll do the repair. For 24 hour emergency tyre replacements or puncture repairs anywhere in Scotland, Franks Mobile Tyres is available day and night.
